Our main source of heat in the winter is from our wood burner. When we first purchased our home, my husband would cut down trees and chop up wood every year. Enough to last the winter. That is a lot of wood. One year he was very sick and could not chop enough wood, so I called someone and purchased a couple cords. Perry calculated the cost of the wood vs. his labor to chop his own and decided it would be easier to purchase our wood every year. So every year toward the end of August beginning of September we have 5 cords of wood delivered.
This is what 5 cords of firewood looks like. And guess who gets to stack it all?? We have an old chicken coop that we store it in. I back my pickup truck up to the pile and load it full of wood, then drive it up to the chicken coop and stack it all. I had Monday off and worked from 9am to 7pm, then again yesterday from about 4:30pm to 7pm. I left one truckload for my hubby to do today because I just could not physically pick up another piece of wood.
My whole body hurts. I hurt in places I didn't even know there were muscles. My club foot is the worst. I could barely walk on it yesterday. Thought I was going to have to pull out my cane there for a while. I feel like someone took one of those logs and beat me with it. :) But it only happens once a year.
Next year I think I'm going to hire a couple high school kids to work on it for me. LOL
Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

Back breaking labor to be sure. But just think how nice and warm you'll be this winter. (o;
That's a lot of work Stacie. Guess you won't have to work out for a few days after that!
